Thailand scooters, - a way of life... part 1

On a recent trip to Thailand I realized just how important the humble scooter is to the Thai people. It is used for anything imaginable, from families of five to surfers with surfboards. I stood at a few spots and made these images;

                                                                 Going spear-fishing...

                                                                    Family of five!

                                                             Is the Jeep chasing him?

Young Community Shaper 2011 gets a boost...

Danys was the winner of our Young Community Shapers competition in 2011. As you know, we never say goodbye to finalists of the competition, and we are always looking for sponsors or people who can help the different projects.

Zanzele is such a company. They gave Danys's project, Institute of Knowledge, 10 laptops, 2 computers and an I-pad to help with teaching the community. Danys's project reaches around 500 learners in his community and teaches them computer literacy, math's and science.

                             Here Danys are helping some learners on the newly sponsored laptops.

                                    Danys and Ruth Raseala, the CEO of Zanele, - the sponsor.

                                  Danys and his proud mother. Danys is one of her 12 children.

Robinson Crusoe's house...

On a tiny island in the Andeman Sea near Thailand I came upon this little house where people live. There was an outhouse behind the structure but apart from a few coconuts lying around there was no one around. Robinson Crusoe out hunting?

Singapore Flat Iron building?...

In the busy restaurant area near Marina Bay I found this oddly shaped building. The Manchester Soccer    supporters bar was in it.

At a nearby ally I passed what must be the smallest ally with the most Air-conditioning machines in it ever!

Little house on the island...

On the tiny Island of Rang Yai, I found a few little houses where a few families live. There is a pearl factory shop and a beach bar on the island and I walked across the island from shore to shore in 10 minutes!

                                      Sort of reminds me of a scene from Platoon or Rambo...
